Mental Health Crisis Response
Thresholds provides mental health crisis response in Chicago through two programs – our Living Room and our Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT).
When an individual is experiencing a mental health crisis, it can be difficult to know where to turn. Thresholds is here to provide supportive, compassionate, trauma-informed services that work towards de-escalation and reducing danger to the individual. We are here to assess the needs of the individual in mental health crisis, reduce acute symptoms, and act as a guide through the healthcare system to find the next step resources for the individual.
Thresholds has worked to advocate for the incorporation of more mental health crisis training for 911 workers and police officers, better coordination of systems within hospital emergency rooms, and a true statewide system of triage and response. It’s critical that all responders have the ability to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental health crisis and refer individuals to appropriate care and help.
